The New Brighton Menz Shed Trust was established in 2009 to run a men's shed in New Brighton. The shed opened in 2013 after a 4 year effort to find suitable premises in the area.

Shed opening hours are:-
During NZ daylight saving *, 8:30am - 12:30pm, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
At other times, 9am - 12:30pm, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
* NZ Daylight saving starts each year at 2am on the last Sunday in September, and ends at 3am on the first Sunday in April.
The New Brighton Menz Shed was a virtual shed from 2009 to 2013 as the trust worked through the options for establishing a shed.
The shed finally found a physical home and was opened by Lianne Dalziel MP on 27 September 2013 at St. Faith’s Church, Hawke Street, New Brighton.
In December 2019, the shed was relocated to St. Andrews Church, 109 Marriotts Road, North New Brighton, Christchurch. The move tripled the space available for shed activities.
A community shed, the health and wellbeing of men is our priority but our shed is open to all; men and women are welcome. If the current hours don’t suit you, talk to us. If you are not sure if the shed activities would suit you, just call in to one of our sessions.
We love doing community projects as well as our own projects at the shed, so if you have a community project you would like some help with, please contact us.

The Rata Foundation supported the shed in getting established in 2013 and in 2020 with funding to cover operational costs.
In 2020, the Christchurch City Council supported the shed with a grant to purchase and install dust extraction equipment.
